MagicQ MQ80 - Steps to update the BIOS on older MQ80’s
This changes the console behaviour so that the internal monitor (screen) settings do not get disable if the bios battery has an issue.
Please only perform this process if directed to do so by ChamSys Support
- Download the zip file here https://secure.chamsys.co.uk/bugtracker/download_file.php?file_id=163&type=doc
- Unpack the zip file
- copy the file onto a USB drive.
- Connect a USB keyboard to the console
- Insert the USB stick to one of the USB sockets of the console.
- Power up the console
- While the console is powering up, hit the external keyboards delete key multiple times
- In the bios window, navigate to the "Advanced" tab then to the "Instant Flash" option
- Select the BIOS file from USB and flash
- The processor card will reboot (it will be slow to re-boot the first time). MagicQ will startup.
The update is complete.

Once complete the Bios Battery is not necessary but should not be removed.
